Yesterday was my birthday. 26. Upper-middle-20s. It's a great place to be and I'm happy to be here. It's been a year of big changes — most notably getting married and moving to downtown Chicago — and one in which a lot of amazing things have happened. As is usual, the ups have come mixed with their fair share of downs, but there's no doubting that 25 was one of my best years so far. I can't wait to see where the rest of my life takes me. Birthday celebrations last night were low-key, as is my preference. Shiraaz took me to dinner at Balena, which I've been wanting to try for months. He also got me a sweet gift...can you guess which one it is from the items below?
I was lucky to get some amazing and thoughtful gifts from my family this year, but just in case anyone's still thinking of getting me something (or if you need some inspiration for the upcoming holiday season), I compiled some things that have recently caught my eye.
Clockwise from top left: The Flower Recipe Book by Alethea Harampolis and Jill Rizzo | A Reader's Book of Days by Tom Nissley | The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida, translated by David Mitchell | Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh | An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth by Col. Chris Hadfield | The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman | The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri | Longbourn by Jo Baker | Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton
Lucky me, I got two of the items in this batch yesterday! I wouldn't mind the others, though...
Clockwise from top left: Le Creuset Classic 3.5 Qt. Wide Round French Oven | Tarte Amazonian Clay Double Detox Exfoliating Mask | Jonathan Adler Stepped Diamonds Headphones | Marc by Marc Jacobs Baker leather strap watch | Anthropologie Dot Pop Bowl (Free shipping on $150+ with code COZYUP) | AquaFarm at Home Aquaponics Kit (fish not included)
As much as I like nice things, my real birthday wish yesterday was for everyone to give PAPER/PLATES some love by introducing it to a friend. Since it's still my birthday week, you can make me really happy by inviting a friend to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Bloglovin' or any other means. Thank you so much. May all your birthdays be as wonderful as mine has been.
