At The Table With...Jamie Bennett of Perpetual Page-Turner

Jamie Bennett Perpetual Page Turner

Today we're turning up with Jamie Bennett, the 28-year-old Philadelphia blogger behind Perpetual Page-Turner. This is a woman whose love for books is evident in every aspect of her blog. She describes her site as a "book blog that has no boundaries," and I can't help but agree. I often find Jamie posting everything from book reviews to real-life conversations inspired by books in a lovely feature called Beyond The Pages. Jamie's is a blog for the most sincere book lovers, people who live to read and who best emote through GIFs. But reading Perpetual Page-Turner will also give you glimpses into Jamie's life, from the fashions she's coveting to the songs she's replaying. It's a well-rounded peek into one bookworm's world.

Read on to get to know Jamie!

What is your all-time favorite book?

Oh man, how do I even CHOOSE? I think I'll pick one that is a longstanding favorite and say Pride and Prejudice.

What meal do you love to cook?

Well, honestly, my husband is the one who cooks every night. I used to cook a bit before we were married and I loved making homemade southwestern mac and cheese.

What is your favorite food scene from a book?

One of my favorite food moments in a book would have to be in The Book Thief when Liesel and Rudy take a coin into the candy store and expect to be able to buy a lot of candy and all they are actually able to buy is one hard candy so they each take the same amount of links and pass it back and forth. I loved their friendship so much!

Coffee or tea?

Tea

What is the last book you abandoned?

The Signature of All Things* by Elizabeth Gilbert β€” I'm about halfway and I just have put it down for a month or so. I will TRY picking it back up again because I bought it but blergh. It's making me have a reading slump.

Author you'd most like to meet for dinner, and your order?

I'd really love to meet up with Gayle Forman for dinner. I've met her a few times and she's so lovely and interesting and we'd have a great dinner conversation. I'd probably order something I've never tried because we'd probably go to some cool restaurant that Gayle knows and she'd tell me about some cuisine she had on her travels. I'd also love to go eat crepes with her!

Where do you go to find new recipes? New reads?

My husband and I have a few blogs that we get our recipes from. Also Pinterest for sure. I find my new reads from scouring the catalogs and hearing what other bloggers are raving about.

Tell us about your blogβ€”the inspiration for it, why you blog, and what your favorite aspects are.

I started my blog in June 2010 because I wanted to talk books but had nobody in my life to do it with. I want The Perpetual Page-Turner to be a place that book lovers go to discover new books, talk about books we've read and the bookish life like you are sitting down with a friend over margaritas. I'm very conversational and I strive to connect with people over the books we love and don't love. I love that I have an amazing community of readers who chat with me regularly. I also love how I'm able to infuse a lot of MYSELF personally into the blog and my readers really respond well to it.

What are your favorite blogs, and why?

Well, all my favorite blogs are on my blogroll and there are quite a few of them. I'll just pick one of my NEW favorite blogs and that is Pop Goes The Reader! She's got fabulous taste in books, has eclectic taste like me and her reviews are all really wonderfully written and I trust her opinion. Plus her design is GORGEOUS.
