Bookmarked: The Picnic Edition

Welcome back to Bookmarked. In this weekly series, I bookmark things I covet while sharing alternatives I can actually attain in the meantime. This is the picnic edition.

picnic

Maybe we can give the credit to Pinterest, or maybe I am just exposed to this phenomenon by my ever-increasing yuppification, but in the last few years picnics have become out-of-control-stylish. Don't you remember when a PB&J in a Ziploc bag counted as a totally sufficient offering? Well, no longer. Now picnicking is like walking into an Instagram dream starring Zooey Deschanel, and the market has exploded with totally unnecessary but charming excuses to acquire stuff. One of my favorites is this sustainable and trendy beer-vessel. Sure, I'd love to take this on one of my...maybe three...picnics a year, but I'm afraid it's not worth the cabinet space.

In the meantime, there's

Boxsal

. Each set includes the vessels, napkins, and trash bag you need. You can re-use or toss the compostable set when you're done with your outing. But not only does Boxal offer sustainable, practical, adorable transport solutions, they also encourage us to get out there and find creative ways to enjoy food with friends. They even have a "Today's Date Box" that includes ice-breakers, and an "Office Escape" that tells us to get off our butts and take a lunch break. I'm totally in love — this is such an easy, fun, responsible way to mix up our meals! And  you can fill your picnic basket with finger foods like these cocktail sausages.

How do you all like to picnic?  Anybody up for an indoor spread during the winter?
