Launch into Space Month with these stellar podcasts

In honor of the Moon Landing, which took place on July 20, 1969, our July theme is ‘space,’ and you can jump feet first into the celebration with the podcasts below. They’ll get you up to speed on everything from mapping the dark matter universe to the colonization of Mars.

1. RadioLab

Of course RadioLab has an episode on space! If you don’t already subscribe to these story-centric episodes from Robert Krulwich and Jad Abumrad, this is the perfect place to start.

2. StarTalk Radio

For fans of the reboot of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey with Neil Degrasse Tyson, check out Neil’s podcast, StarTalk. In this episode, he talks with Bas Lansdorp about colonizing Mars.

3. ScienceFriday

This episode features guest astrophysicists Priyamvada Natarajan and Shep Doeleman. Natarajan is the author of Mapping the Heavens: The Radical Scientific Ideas That Reveal the Cosmos, and she is working to map the unseen Dark Matter that makes up 96% of the universe. In a similar effort to see the invisible, Doeleman leads a project attempting to capture the first ever picture of a black hole.

Astrophysicists are seriously rad.

4. The Infinite Monkey Cage

In this live Christmas Special, Brian Cox and Robin Ince, along with a panel of special guests, discuss the timey-wimey space science of Doctor Who.
