Kicking off Fashion Month

Kicking off Fashion Month

September is Fashion Month, also known as the most wonderful time of the year. Over four weeks, in the four fashion capitals of the world — New York, London, Milan and Paris — fashion houses display their latest collections in runway shows.

(We're doing our best Heidi Klum impression with the hashtag #PPFW — for PAPER/PLATES Fashion week, of course.)

You’re probably wondering what Fashion Month has to do with a blog about food and books, but let me tell you, it does.

I believe fashion is for everyone. I know many women would disagree with me, but fashion is about so much more than clothes. It’s about culture, self-expression, photography, writing and feeling beautiful and empowered.

So this September, I'm bringing you fashion books for every woman (Don’t believe me? Stay tuned!) and food-inspired fashion (and vice versa), as well as a few tongue-in-cheek nods to the industry, bookended by our classic literary recipe pairing at the end of the month. I'm so excited to take you on a journey through style, history, and creativity.

Goals: Let’s have as much fun during #PPFW as Kendall and Gigi (or KenGi, as I love to call them) have during NYFW! Who knows, maybe we’ll walk away with some new BFFs (KenMar? MarGi?) or, better yet, as Olivier Rousteing’s new muses. One can dream, no?
